DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Hampton University men's golf team opened the spring 2016 portion of its schedule on Thursday and Friday, competing in the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational hosted by Bethune-Cookman at the LPGA International.
The Pirates fired a 1,073 (370-346-357) over the course of three rounds, finishing 17th.
Junior
T.J. O'Neal led the Pirates, shooting in the 70s in all three rounds en route to finishing 59th on the individual leaderboard. He shot a 19-over 235, going 79-79-77 for the tournament.
O'Neal now has seven rounds in the 70s this season, dating back to the fall.
Junior
Kenny Gaither was 88th after shooting a 49-over 265 (87-83-95), while senior
Dawson Hobbs was 89th after carding a 53-over 269 (94-84-91). Senior
Arthur Davis shot an 88-over 304 (110-100-94) to finish 93rd.
Lynn University won the team title with an 841 (275-283-283). Lynn's Martin Cancino won the individual crown with an 8-under 208 (69-72-67).
