HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University men's tennis team swept Maryland-Eastern Shore 7-0 this past Sunday.
The Pirates took a one-point advantage in doubles action.
Park Wan-Young (Daeduk-Gu, Daejeon) and
Advait Kirtane (Toronto, Ontario) defeated Elame and Wayne 8-0 in the No. 1 spot.
Lakshmana Satchithananthan (Toronto, Ontario) and
Kenneth Greene (Philadelphia, PA) won 8-0 over McClay and Charles in the No. 2 position.
In singles action, the Pirates swept through the Hawks in straight sets.
At the No.1 position,
Alvin Fludd (Suitland, MD) defeated Elame 6-0 6-0. Wan-Young defeated Heath 6-0 6-0 in the No.2 position. Kirtane defeated McClay 6-0 6-0 in the No.3 position, while
Joshua McQueen (Miramar, Fl) dropped Charles 6-0 6-0 in the No.4 position to close out the victory for the Pirates.
Due to a short-handed lineup, Hampton won matches in the no. 5 and No. 6 positions by default.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates will return to action at home on Friday, when they take on Niagara University at 1 p.m. at the Neilson-Screen Tennis Stadium.
