HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University sophomore linebacker DeVonte' Hawkins and senior outside hitter Mianna Armstrong were named HU Athletes of the Week, the school announced on Monday.

Hawkins (Knoxville, Tenn.) was pivotal in Hampton's 22-5 win over Savannah State this past Saturday, leading the team with 13 total tackles. He had five solo stops, while also recording 2.5 tackles for a loss of four yards.

Armstrong (Lomond, Alberta) totaled 29 kills and digs in two matches for the Lady Pirates; she had eight kills and 18 digs at Coppin State on Friday, before adding a career-high 21 kills and 28 digs on Sunday against Morgan State.

She hit .189 for the week as the Lady Pirates went 1-1.

The football team will return to Armstrong Stadium on Saturday to take on Howard at 1 p.m., while the volleyball team will also take on Howard on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Lady Pirates' home finale.
