HAMPTON, Va. – The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association announced on Wednesday that Hampton University will host the MAISA/SAISA Intersectional Regatta on Saturday and Sunday, March 26-27, 2011.
This will mark the third straight year in which the Pirates have hosted the event.
Hampton finished seventh in this year's MAISA/SAISA with 140 points. College of Charleston won the regatta with 49 points. This year's regatta featured four nationally-ranked teams: No. 5 College of Charleston, No. 11 Navy, No. 13 South Florida and No. 18 Old Dominion.
The Pirates also finished seventh in the regatta in 2009, finishing with 147 points as South Florida won the meet with 48 points.
Hampton also hosted the MAISA/SAISA in 2007, finishing second in both the A and B Divisions.
The Pirates, which have qualified for this year's America Trophy, will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, when they head to Williamsburg, Va. for the William & Mary 2-on-2 Regatta.
