LITTLESTOWN, Pa. – The Hampton University men's golf team finished seventh in the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at the Quail Valley Golf Course, with a three-round score of 1,034 (361-335-338).
Oscar Ayala (Easton, Pa.) led the Pirates, finishing 36th with a 35-over 251 (84-88-79); his third-round 79 was the team low for the tournament. Geoffrey Napper (Bowie, Md.) fired a 44-over 260 (90-87-83) to finish 38th, while Javier Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) finished 39th with a 47-over 263 (91-83-89).
Curtis Fearrington (Attica, N.Y.) shot a 53-over 269 (96-81-92) to finish 40th, and Sidney Fields (Decatur, Ga.) finished 41st after shooting a 55-over 271 (100-84-87).
Robert Morris won the team championship with a three-day score of 921 (306-304-311). Brock Pompeani of Robert Morris shot an 11-over 227 (75-76-76) to finish atop the individual leaderboard.
Rider's Brian Accorsini shot a second-round 72 to record the low round of the tournament.
The Pirates will return to action on May 7-10, when they head to Port St. Lucie, Fla. for the PGA Minority Collegiate Championship.
