WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Hampton University sailing team finished second in the William & Mary 2-on-2 Regatta, held Saturday and Sunday.

Racing was called back on Sunday because of a lack of wind.

Saturday saw steady winds, clocking in at about 15 knots, with the Pirates coming in second overall behind Christopher Newport. Virginia Tech finished third out of the six-team field, while Virginia came in fourth, William & Mary finished fifth and Salisbury came in sixth.

The Pirates will sail again Saturday and Sunday in Ithaca, N.Y., when they compete in the America Trophy hosted by Cornell University. The MAISA champion will be crowned at this race, and the top eight finishers will qualify for the 2010 ICSA National Championships, which will be held May 25-June 3 in Madison, Wisc.
