LADY PIRATES TO HOST NCAA SELECTION PARTY

HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University women's basketball team, fresh off its Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championships, will hold an NCAA selection party on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the team meeting room at Armstrong Stadium.

The Lady Pirates (20-11) won their first conference title –and automatic NCAA bid – since 2004, when they defeated South Carolina State 57-46 in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Saturday. Melanie Warner (Tallahassee, Fla.) was named Tournament MVP, while interim head coach David Six was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Coach and MEAC Defensive Player of the Year Quanneisha Perry (Decatur, Ga.) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Hampton has won six straight games and 14 of its last 15.

The NCAA Women's Selection Show will air Monday at 7 p.m. on ESPN. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be held on Sunday and Tuesday at predetermined sites.

Senior trackster Francena McCorory (Hampton, Va.), fresh off her second NCAA title in the 400-meter dash, will also be in attendance to celebrate her recent accomplishment and answer questions from the media.
