DOVER, Del. -- The Hampton University women's bowling team won four matches this past weekend at the Capital Classic, hosted by Delaware State University on Saturday and Sunday.
The Lady Pirates went 2-3 during team match play on Saturday, losing the first two to Adelphi University (847-873) and Delaware State (798-909); however, they won the next two against North Carolina A&T (851-801) and Howard (874-828). Hampton came up short against St. Peter's 878-888.
Jazzminn Richey-Obey (Lorain, Ohio)once again led the Lady Pirates with a total pinfall of 950, bowling a season-high 235 against Howard.
Rebecca Glazier was second on the team with a total pinfall of 929, and she averaged 185.8 per game.
As a team, Hampton's total pinfall was 4,248 on Saturday, averaging 849.6 total pins per game.
Hampton went 2-3 in Baker total pinfall. On Sunday, the Lady Pirates lost the first two matches to Delaware State (711-734) and Adelphi (647-749); yet they beat Howard (716-645) and St. Peter's (4-1). In the last match, Hampton battled hard but came up short to Adelphi (3-4).
The Lady Pirates (53-67) will return to action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for their last tournament before the MEAC Championships, when they travel to Smyrna, Tenn. to compete in the Music City Classic.
