Texas A&M swept both team titles, with the men scoring 99 points and the women tallying 107. The Lady Pirates finished 17th with 18 points, while the Pirates finished in a tie for 25th with Iona with eight points.
Three Lady Pirates also competed on Saturday in the Vince Brown Invitational, held at the Freeman Center on the campus of Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va. DeShana Briggs (Norfolk, Va.) turned in a second-place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.58 meters, while Jocelyn Watkins (Ellenwood, Ga.) threw the shot put 12.32 meters to finish fifth.

Benita Taylor (Philadelphia, Pa.) ran a 2:24.05 in the 800-meter run to finish 11th.

The Pirates and Lady Pirates will return to action Thursday-Saturday, when they head to Landover, Md. to compete in the 2010 MEAC Championships. The Lady Pirates will look for their eighth straight conference indoor title, while the Pirates will look to improve on last year’s third-place finish.
