BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Hampton University women's bowling team won four matches this past weekend at the Morgan State Invitational, hosted by Morgan State University on Saturday and Sunday.
The Lady Pirates went 2-3 during team match play on Saturday, winning their opening match 913-827 against Elmhurst College. In the second match, Hampton lost 815-877 to the Fairleigh Dickinson; however, the Lady Pirates took their third match against North Carolina Central 856-794. The Lady Pirates lost the forth and fifth matches to New Jersey City (829-950) and Morgan State (802-837).
Jazzminn Richey-Obey lead the Lady Pirates with a total pinfall of 969 and she bowled a season-high 228 against Elmhurst en route to Second Team All-Tournament honors.
Brittney Reynolds was second on the team with a total pinfall of 848 and she averaged 169.6 per game.
As a team, Hampton's total pinfall was 4,215 on Saturday, averaging 843 total pins per game.
Hampton went 2-3 in Baker total pinfall. On Saturday, the Lady Pirates beat Cheyney 618-448. On Sunday, they lost to North Carolina A&T (529-594), Adelphi (608-661) and North Carolina Central (4-3); however, the Lady Pirates won their last game against Fayetteville State (4-2).
The Lady Pirates (49-61) will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, when they travel to Dover, Del. to compete in the postponed Capital City Classic hosted by Delaware State University.
