HAMPTON, Va. – Sophomore Jericka Jenkins and junior Brandon Tunnell were named on Tuesday as Hampton University’s Athletes of the Week for their performances on the basketball court.
After scoring eight points on 2-for-3 shooting from 3-point range on Jan. 18 at North Carolina A&T,
Jenkins (Lancaster, Texas) exploded for a huge game against Bethune-Cookman on Saturday, when she scored a career-high 31 points on 10-for-18 shooting to go along with six rebounds and a team-high six assists.
Jenkins went a career-best 8-for-14 from 3-point range.
Tunnell (Wilmington, Del.) made his first start of the season on Jan. 18 at North Carolina A&T, scoring two points and offering two assists in a 65-55 win. He followed that up on Saturday with a season-high 15 points on 5-for-12 shooting and 4-for-5 from the free throw line in the Pirates’ loss to Bethune-Cookman.
He also pulled down five rebounds and a logged a team-high three assists.
