FARMVILLE, Va. – The Hampton University men’s golf team finished 13th out of 13 teams on Tuesday at the 2009 Manor Intercollegiate, hosted by Longwood University at the Manor Resort Golf Club. The Pirates finished the tournament with a 262-over par score of 1,059 (362-351-346).
Javier Lopez shot an 85 on Tuesday and wound up 64th with a 37-over par 253 to lead the team. Tre Craig shot an 81 on Tuesday to finish 70th with a 48-over 264, while Geffory Napper and Sidney Fields each finished in a tie for 73rd with a 55-over par 271. Jason Sherer shot a 67-over 283 to finish 78th.
Gardner-Webb took the team title with a 24-over par 876 (290-291-295). Daniel Kim of Gardner-Webb took the individual title after beating Liberty’s Preston Dembowiak in a playoff. Kim finished with a 3-under par 213.
