HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University Department of Athletics will hold a press conference on Tuesday, April 7, at 1 p.m. at Armstrong Stadium to announce the new men’s and women’s basketball coaches for the 2009-10 season.
David Six will officially be announced as the new interim women’s basketball coach, while Edward Joyner will be named the head coach of the men’s team on an interim basis. Six served as director of intramurals at Hampton for the 2008-09 school year, while Joyner was an assistant for the Pirates under Kevin Nickelberry.
Six was formerly the head coach for the girls basketball team at Hampton High, where he won two state titles and nine regional championships. Joyner, before coming to Hampton University, was an assistant head coach at his alma mater, Johnson C. Smith University.
