WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Hampton University junior
Vincent Simpson (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named to the All-MEAC men’s basketball Second Team Monday night as part of the conference’s tournament tip-off banquet.
Simpson leads the Pirates (15-15, 8-8 MEAC) in scoring, averaging 11.4 points a game on the season. He also averaged 13.3 points a night in conference competition. Simpson scored in double figures 15 times on the season, including a career-high 34 points behind nine 3-pointers on Jan. 17 in a win over South Carolina State.
Simpson had an eight-game stretch to open MEAC play in which he scored in double figures.
The No. 7 seed Pirates will take on the No. 10 seed Hornets of Delaware State in the first round of the 2009 MEAC Tournament Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. For more on the MEAC Tournament, visit
