WALKER NAMED MEAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Hampton University junior Predist Walker was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Men’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday, as announced by the conference office.

Walker (Suffolk, Va.) won two event titles this past Saturday in the season-opening Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md. After taking the long jump title with a distance of 6.98 meters, Walker took the 60-meter hurdles race with a time of 7.90.

That time provisionally qualified Walker for the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Howard University senior Landria Buckley was named MEAC Women’s Track & Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Bucknell Bison Opener.

The Pirates will return to action on Friday and Saturday, when they travel to Kent, Ohio for the Golden Flash Gala hosted by Kent State University.
