Blue Lightning Student Boosters was created in Spring 2007 and is a student organization organized and monitored through the HU Department of Athletics and sponsored by the HU Boosters, Inc.
Blue Lightning Student Boosters main purpose is to entice students to attend HU athletic events by rewarding its members with points. These points will go towards Blue Lightning Student Boosters benefits such as priority seating for home football games and basketball games, coach and player interaction, and tours of the athletic facilities, and much more. Thus a member’s Booster status is determined by the amount of sporting events they attend instead of the amount of money they donate to the organization.
1. Mission: To promote school spirit among the student body, increase attendance at athletics sporting events (all sports offered at Hampton University) and to reward the students who are an active part of the organization; to serve as an integral part in establishing a relationship between the general student body and the student athletes; more importantly, to give students who plan on being HU Boosters upon graduation the opportunity to work hands on with our HU Boosters and acquire participation points that will grant them additional Member Benefits upon joining the HU Boosters Program.
2. Vision: To have 1,000 current members by Spring 2009; to encourage and recruit graduating seniors (those graduating in fall, spring or summer) within the organization to join the HU Boosters; moreover, to provide our members the opportunity to meet one another and establish a camaraderie amongst themselves.
3. Value: To make this both an enjoyable and positive experience for the membership, student athletes, executive council and HU Booster Officers. We value to service our students’ needs promptly and efficiently. We strive to maintain an excellent working relationship with vendors such as restaurants, HU memorabilia shops, and any other businesses that help contribute to the overall success of HU Student Boosters.
4. Position: To provide an organization that allows all currently enrolled HU students to join and be able to participate in. To also reward those students who attend the spotlighted sporting events and social activities designated by the HU Administration, the HU Athletics Staff, the HU Boosters and the Blue Lightning Student Booster executive board.
