CLEMSON, S.C. -- The Hampton University track teams competed this weekend in the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and came away with some top finishes.
In a meet where they faced nine nationally-ranked schools from the ACC and SEC, the women saw
Meshala Morton record top 20 finishes in the 60 (16th/7.54) and 200 (18th/24.05).
Alycia Higgins was 10th in the 3000 (10:35.85), while
Mallory Pitchford was 11th in the 60 hurdles in 8.69. The 4x400 relay team took 12th in 3:47.26 consisting of
Alysha Evans, Morton,
Erin Morrison and
Sashana Hinds.
On the men's side, they had three top eight finishers. The mile relay team of
Gabriel Johnson,
Rayon Black,
Stanley Davis and
Jaelen Williams ran 3:11.63 to finish fifth.
Charles Graham took seventh in the 60 hurdles in 7.99 after running a 7.92 in the preliminaries.
Stanley Davis also had seventh in the 800 meters in 1:49.63.
Taking top 12 spots included
Geoffrey McCullough in the mile run 4:18.90 and
Trey Clark i nthe pole vault was 12th in 14-3.25.
The Hampton University track teams will now compete in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships February 16-18 in Prince George, Md.
