HAMPTON, Va. -- The Hampton University track teams had another dual-event weekend as a few participants went to the Patriot Games at
Goerge Mason, while the majority of the team went back to Lynchburg for the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational at Liberty.
The women's multi-event athletes went north to Fairfax and came away with a second and a third-place in the pentathlon. Â Crystal
Eley and
Sydney Davis took second and third respectively in the pentathlon to give Hampton an eighth-place team finish scoring 14 points. Davis was third with 3,092 points, while
Eley had 142 more points to take second with 3,134.
Eley and Davis went 1-2 in the 60 hurdles with
Eley edging out her teammate by .03 running a 9.23. The next best finish for
Eley was third in the shot put (9.95M), while Davis was tied for fourth in the high jump (1.52M) and took fourth in the long jump (5.00M).Â

Three in the women's 60 meters earned
ECAC qualifying marks as
Meshala Morton had the fastest time of the semifinals in 7.50, while Mallory
Pitchford (7.69) and
Saenea Williams (7.71) also finished in the top eight.
Alycia Higgins was seventh in the 1000 in 3:06.99, while
Alysha Evans was eighth in the 800 (2:21.05) and
Asia Johnson was ninth in the 5000 (19:12.50).
In the women's 60 hurdles, Mallory
Pitchford and
Kylie McMillan also earned
ECAC qualifying marks as
Pitchford ran 8.68 in the semifinals and McMillan came in with an 8.76.
The
4x400 relay team ran an
ECAC qualifying time of 3:54.45 to take fifth with
Erin Morrison, Morton,
Tiara Robinson and
Sashana Hinds combining for the time.
Tamadj Fisher was eighth in the high jump with a leap of 5-3 (1.60M). In the long jump,
Jayme Thomas was tied for sixth with a leap of 17-8.75 (5.40M), while
Kayla Key was tenth in 17-6.75 (5.35M). In the shot put,
Kiyanna Thomas was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 42-9 (13.03M).
Rayon Black took second in the 400 meters in a
IC4A qualifying time of 48.94 missing first by .04.Â
Justin Beatty took fourth in the event in 49.35, while
Gabriel Johnson was sixth in 49.45 and
Jerrick Powell was eighth in 49.75.
In the 500 meters,
Jaelen Williams was third running an
IC4A qualifying time of 1:04.63. He was the top collegiate finisher in the event.Â
Dominick Patterson was eighth in 1:07.32, while
Khalil Gary was 11
th in 1:09.23.
Stanley Davis won the 800 meters in 1:54.06 to make a qualifying time for the
IC4A meet. He was .20 off the meet record set in 2014, while
Eric Ellis was fifth in 1:57.75.Â
Geoffrey McCullough took second in the 1000 meters in 2:29.39, while
Emmanuel Too was fourth in the 5000 in 15:36.56
Charles Graham took first place in the 60 hurdles with a time of 8.12. He ran a faster time in the semifinals clocking an 8.03 to break the
IC4A qualifying mark.
The
4x400 relay team of
Justin Beatty,
Rayon Black,
Gabriel Johnson and Williams took second in 3:14.87 to earn a qualifying time for the
IC4A meet.
Another first place for the men came in the
4x800 relay that set a facility and meet record running 7:45.17 for a qualifying time to the
IC4A meet. Davis,
Eric Ellis,
Tayvon Burris and McCullough combined for the meet record time.
The
4x60 shuttle hurdle relay team of Graham, Williams,
Dominick Patterson and Powell took second to a Liberty team running 33.00.
In the high jump, Jonathan Swain tied for second with a leap of 6-6.25 (1.99M).Â
Donmanique Hardy was seventh in the long jump with a leap of 21-10 (6.65M), while in the weight throw,
Michael Crockett was seventh with a toss of 45-5 (13.84M).
The track teams will have another busy weekend as they'll compete at the Armory Invitational in New York along with the Captains Invitational in Newport News at Christopher Newport.
