HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University men's and women's tennis teams are gearing up for the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tennis Championships to be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Millbrook Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

The Pirates who finished at the No.2 seed will open play on Friday against Norfolk State, the Southern Division's No. 3 seed, at 12 p.m., while the Lady Pirates will face South Carolina State on Friday at 8:30 a.m.

The Pirates earned the Northern Division's No. 2 seed after going 5-9 overall and 4-1 in conference play this season. Morgan State, 5-16 overall and 4-0 in MEAC play, earned the Northern Division's top seed on the men's side.

Defending MEAC champion South Carolina State earned the Southern Division's top seed.

The Lady Pirates earned the Northern Division's No. 4 seed by going 2-3 in conference play to go along with a 3-10 overall record.

Morgan State went 5-0 in the Northern Division to earn the top seed on the women's side.
