2013 MEAC Tournament Women's Bracket
NORFOLK, Va. – The Hampton University women's basketball team will be the No. 1 seed in the 2013 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament, which will be held Monday through Saturday at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
The Lady Pirates will be going for their fourth straight MEAC Tournament title.
The Lady Pirates (25-5, 16-0 MEAC) will play in Wednesday's quarterfinal at 12 p.m., taking on either No. 8 Bethune-Cookman or No. 9 Delaware State. Those two teams will play in the first round on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
Hampton is coming off its third straight MEAC regular season title, and the Lady Pirates went undefeated in the MEAC for the first time in program history.
Five teams have gone unbeaten in the MEAC; Coppin State last accomplished the feat in 2006-07.
North Carolina A&T earned the No. 2 seed, while Howard picked up the No. 3 seed – and the final first-round bye.
The semifinals will be held on Friday at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and the women's championship game will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. The game, which will determine who receives the MEAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, will air on ESPNU via tape delay.
