NORFOLK, Va. –
The Hampton University men's and women's tennis teams each earned No. 2 seeds in the Northern Division of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for the 2012 MEAC Tennis Championships, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

The 2012 MEAC Tennis Championships will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Millbrook Tennis Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Friday's action will start at 8:30 a.m.

The Pirates will open play on Friday against Bethune-Cookman, the Southern Division's No. 3 seed, at 12 p.m., while the Lady Pirates will face North Carolina Central on Friday at 8:30 a.m.

The Pirates earned the Northern Division's No. 2 seed after going 6-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play this season. Morgan State, 6-9 overall and 4-0 in MEAC play, earned the Northern Division's top seed on the men's side.

Defending MEAC champion South Carolina State earned the Southern Division's top seed.

The Lady Pirates earned the Northern Division's No. 2 seed by going 4-1 in conference play to go along with a 7-7 overall record. Hampton ended the regular season this past Sunday with a 4-3 win over Morgan State in Baltimore, Md. and has won three straight matches.

The Lady Pirates also defeated Maryland Eastern Shore 7-0 and 4-0 on April 7th in Hampton, Va.

Delaware State went 5-0 in the Northern Division to earn the top seed on the women's side.

Defending champion South Carolina State earned the Southern Division's top seed, sweeping division play 4-0 and posting an undefeated season mark of 16-0.
