HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University juniors Delbert Tyler and Devyn Thompson were named HU Athletes of the Week on Monday, following their outstanding performances this past weekend.

Tyler (Monroeville, Pa.) led the Pirates defensively in Saturday's 21-13 Homecoming win over Savannah State, recording a team-high 11 tackles – including five solo stops – and a sack for eight yards. He was part of a Hampton defensive effort that held Savannah State to 33 rushing yards.

Tyler is second on the team in tackles with 57 on the season.

Thompson (Chicago, Ill.) came in sixth in the MEAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Princess Anne, Md. after running a season-best 19:18.87 over the 5K course to earn All-MEAC honors for the third straight year.

The Lady Pirates finished second in the MEAC Championships.
