Jeremiah Schwartz and junior
Devyn Thompson were named HU Athletes of the Week for their respective performances this past weekend.
Schwartz (Orlando, Fla.) rushed for a career-high 201 yards on 25 carries and a touchdown in Saturday's 38-26 loss to Bethune-Cookman, averaging 8.0 yards per carry. He is the first Pirate to have a 200-yard rushing game since Kevin Beverly (204) against North Carolina A&T in 2006.
Schwartz's total from Saturday is the 11th-highest single-game rushing total in program history.
Thompson (Chicago, Ill.) paced the Lady Pirates cross country team this past Saturday, as they won their third straight HBCU Cross Country Invitational title in Cary, N.C. She completed the 5K course at the WakeMed Soccer Park in 19:31.50, her second-fastest time of the season, coming in sixth.
She was one of three Lady Pirates who finished in the top 10.
