PIRATES FINISH SEVENTH IN SSU FALL INVITE

SAVANNAH, Ga. –
The Hampton University men's golf team finished seventh out of 12 teams in the Savannah State Tiger Fall Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at the par-71 Henderson Golf Club, shooting an 87-over 655 (329-326).

Geffory Napper (Bowie, Md.) led the Pirates, recording the team's lone top-20 finish with a 15-over 157 (78-79) to finish 16th. Leon Craig came in a tie for 24th after shooting a 22-over 164 (89-75); his second-round 75 was the Pirates' top round of the tournament. Sidney Fields shot a 26-over 168 (80-88) to finish in a tie for 30th.

Javier Lopez (Chicago, Ill.) shot a 29-over 171 (87-84) to finish 38th, while Curtis Farrington came in 39th with a 30-over 172 (84-88).

Virginia State won the team championship with a 54-over 622 (320-302). Bethune-Cookman's Willie Mack took the individual crown after firing a 1-over 143 (68-75). His first-round 68 was the low round of the tournament, and the only round to break 70.
