LADY PIRATES BOWLING PICKED TO FINISH FOURTH IN MEAC NORTH

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Hampton University women’s bowling team was selected on Friday by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) to finish fourth in the conference’s Northern Division in the 2009-10 season, as voted on by the MEAC’s coaches and sports information directors.

The Lady Pirates wound up with 148 points. Maryland-Eastern Shore was selected to finish first in the MEAC North, collecting 17 first-place votes en route to 240 points. Defending MEAC champion Delaware State picked up four first-place votes and 198 points, picked to finish second in the Northern Division.

Norfolk State, with 10 first-place votes, was selected to win the MEAC Southern Division with 209 points. Florida A&M wound up second with 199 points and six first-place votes.

Maryland-Eastern Shore’s Maria Rodriguez was named the MEAC Preseason Bowler of the Year.

The 2010 MEAC Bowling Championships will be held March 19-21, 2010 in Greensboro, N.C. The Lady Pirates opened the season this past Saturday and Sunday at the Deep South Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
